Residents, businesses and visitors in Shrewsbury are invited to help shape the future character and look of Shrewsbury’s town centre by sharing their feedback on the draft Shrewsbury Town Centre Design Code.
Developed by Shropshire Council in partnership with the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan Partnership, the document was shaped through input from local stakeholders and the public, including workshops and an online forum.
It aligns with the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan and the Shrewsbury Movement and Public Space Strategy, and is intended to be a material consideration in the planning application process. It draws on the area’s distinctive historic and riverside setting – recognising the medieval street patterns, landmark buildings and close relationship with the River Severn.

Guidance tailored to reflect the unique local context of Shrewsbury, including its heritage assets and natural setting
The consultation is open until 19 December 2025, and everyone with an interest in Shrewsbury’s future is encouraged to view the draft code and provide feedback online.
